The Storyteller Behind the Flame
Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Serena finds inspiration in the beauty of nature, motherhood, and the everyday moments of magic. A lifelong storyteller and artist, she brings warmth and heart to the worlds she weaves in her children’s series Woodland Wardens, which celebrates the eclectic and rich culture of Appalachia.
From the time she was small, Serena was a born creator. Before she could read, she told stories through pictures. At night, she spun bedtime tales for her younger sisters. Words that soothed their fears while quietly fueling her own dream: to one day see her name on a book cover.
Life, however, placed many obstacles in her path. Health challenges, struggles of finance and societal obligation tested her passion, yet Serena always found refuge between the pages of a book or in the vibrant mess of pastels spread across her art table.
With her children now grown, Serena has returned to nurture the child inside herself. The girl who once invented stories of the foolish gypsy with her mother’s tarot cards, and the teenager who poured raw painful emotions into creative writing assignments. Today, she honors them both by creating stories full of resilience, imagination, and heart.

Her Creative Mission
Serena’s mission as an author and artist is to share stories that inspire wonder, healing, and connection. Through her writing, she hopes to remind children and adults alike that imagination is a flame that never goes out—it only grows brighter when we give it space to shine.
